CATCHING UP WITH POST-ROCK : MIXTAPE REPOST
NOTE: This is a re-post of a mixtape that i posted back in mid-August. While preparing a new Post-Rock mixtape, I just figured I would post the original first, and then do a follow-up in a day or so. Enjoy!
Post-Rock is generally the label attached to music that generally uses rhythm or melody to guide the song. Often times (not always) the end result is instrumental and is achieved through the use of tradition rock instruments. I know, i know, it’s pretty useless to try and categorize things into varying sub-genres and whatnot, but like before these choices are bands that are directly linked to the genre, or inspired by/ the inspiration of said genre.
PLAYLIST: (individual tracks have links, full mixtape link at bottom)
1) wilderness - END OF FREEDOM 2) codes in the clouds - DON’T GO AWASH IN THIS DIGITAL LANDSCAPE 3) notwist - ONE STEP INSIDE DOESN’T MEAN YOU UNDERSTAND 4) explosions in the sky - DAY SIX 5) talk talk - ASCENSION DAY 6) do make say think - END OF MUSIC 7) slint - GOOD MORNING, CAPTAIN 8) lights out asia - ART DIVIDED BY SCIENCE 9) mogwai - AUTO ROCK 10) clogs - RED SEAS 11) stars of the lid - REQUIEM FOR DYING MOTHERS, PART 1 12) sigur ros - NYJA LAGIO 13) godspeed! you black emperor - MOYA 14) rachel’s - RHINE & COURTESAN
(download) Catching Up With Post-Rock : Part One
* Part Two of the Post-Rock collection and Part Three of the Shoegaze will post shortly. Thanks for listening!
